San Francisco, CA - It’s a foggy Thursday night but you are inside among friends. An elegant feast spreads before you under the soft glow of candlelight. Passersby on the street have no idea this exclusive gathering is underway.

Salon Bleue is inspired by the renowned literary salon Chambre Bleue, hosted continually by Catherine de Vivonne in 17th century Paris. Her salons were attended by small groups of avant-garde thinkers who gathered to exchange ideas about literature, music, art and culture. This intimate, covert dinner party will be held in her honor, bringing together Bay Area locals for an evening of relaxation and enjoyment. Seated amongst diners at each table will be featured Bay Area luminaries, including Adam Savage of Mythbusters, fiction writer Ayelet Waldman, and science writer Mary Roach, among others. This is an event that will undoubtedly feed your intellectual appetite.

On December 1st, at 6:30pm, the dinner will be held at a secret location in San Francisco near City Hall, to be revealed to ticket holders closer to the date. Tickets are $125 (corkage fee included) and can be purchased here.

SonicSF is a non-profit, innovative public radio program produced by award winning NPR veteran Stacy Bond. The program takes its narrative tendencies from pop-culture and its editorial standards from NPR, to create an addictively entertaining “reality news” series unlike anything currently on the air. Casting begins in January, and the show will be launching in the spring of 2012.

The Whisk & Ladle Supperclub is set in our four-bedroom loft apartment: 450 sq. feet of dining space with 20-ft. ceilings, a 425 sq. ft open kitchen with an oak bar. You will have three chef/servers at your disposal, as well as a professional bartender.

We offer five-course meals at a fixed rate. The menu consists of a tastings course served out of the kitchen, followed by soup, entree, salad, and dessert courses. Wines will be matched according to the menu and served with dinner.  A cocktail hour precedes each meal; unique drink offerings will be available from the bartender. There is seating for 30 people. Small sized parties are encouraged.

We’re Pop n’ Lockn’
We’ve been working on the menu all week for our first “pop up” dinner at the Corner this coming Sunday.  A buddy, Jesse Durocher, from the “the Laundry” and Campton Place has been collaborating on this one.  In the past, we’ve done everything we can to avoid restaurants. As we’re all into trying new things, wink wink, gE wanted to try out a night where guests can come in without all the commitophopbe restrictions.

That’s right we’re doing small-ish plates where you can build your own tasting menu.  Reservations can be made for the first seating.  After that, bring your sword and shield cuz its first in first seated.  (Sorry, I’ve been watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand to fall asleep.) We’re doing  playful dishes along the lines of plantain-wrapped fried game hen with yeast-risen waffles and giving our “French Onion Soup”from a while back a second run at the title.

There’s a new top secret space dedicating itself solely to pop up restaurants.  Be one of the first to check out the new digs at our “Dinner and a Flick” feast for Valentines Day where we pair 5 courses to 5 short films.  (Yep that’s Feb 14th. Right after my mom’s birthday.) The menu, films, and all the other little surprises are in the works.  Details will be out shortly.  Don’t be a knucklehead and wait around till the last minute.  This year will be much more intimate than last year’s awesomeness, meaning space will be very limited.  Book something great, be done with it, sit back and enjoy…if you know what I mean.

…a Noise Pop Event

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.  A great cover allows an artist to pay homage to those who inspire him, while infusing his personality into the mix. On February 17th and 18th, graffEats, Turntable Kitchen, and FoxconSox Consulting will be presenting a dinner of Covers. The six-course meal will feature our takes on the signature dishes of influential chefs who have sculpted the good people behind gE. Dishes will riff on Grant Achatz’s “Hot Potato, Cold Potato”, “Daniel Humm’s Pave of Suckling Pig” and way more. Playing into the cover’s theme, Turntable will be providing Musical Pairings for each course. (Covers, of course!) Think, Michel Bras’s Black Olive Oil Poached Monkfish paired with Françoise Hardy’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne”.

The BYOB shindig will consist of two seatings each night: 6:00pm & 9:00pm for just $65 a person.

So sorry to have to do this.  Due to uncontrollable circumstances which arose over the weekend, we have elected to reschedule our High On the Hog Event.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.  One approach would have been to  take the “show must go on” attitude and followed through with the current booked date.  The end result is far more important than a specific date.  We hold ourselves to very high standards and know you have great expectations from us as well.  The last thing we would want to risk is disappointment.  So, we are rescheduling for early September.  The exact date is still being discussed.

…it’s where I’d want to be

Since Everyone is raising their prices for NYE, (AKA the New Years Eve Tax) we decided we’re going to lower ours!  We wanted to bring you all the polish of a NYE fine dining event without all the attitude.

Here’s how we’re gonna do it…

We will be hosting in a Vintage European Piano Salon in Hayes Valley…you know how we love our unorthodox spaces.  Just wait till you see it!

Once again, we are going to be featuring the elegant and noir watercolor illustrations of Miss Eliza Frye

Waipara Springs wines from New Zealand will be gracing us with their presence!!!!

Davorin from Old World Spirits…a local, organic, handcrafted, ultra premium spirit producer will be contributing to the “circus”  in the form of a few of his specialty libations.  The Music’s gonna keep us funky through out the night!

…and of course, thanks to all of you…we will be making a large donation to one of our favorite charities Street Poets.

We are going to be offering a 3 course menu for the early birdies from 5:30PM to 8PM @ a suggested donation of $45. We know it’s a social butterfly sorta night.  It’s for those of you with other  engagements.  Additionally,  a 4 course menu, beverage  pairings included, second seating begenning  @ 8:45 for a $90 suggested donation including the full evenings experience.  The second seating will of course have a few added surprises.
